Those of you who have read me for a while will know I listen to a great deal of music. My tastes are broad, from rock to jazz, hip hop to blues, R&B to classical, opera to indie, and many genres in between. And I enjoy music from all over the world.
I listen to a lot of new albums, and these are my fifteen favourites from those released in 2022 that came to my attention. Each one, in its own way, excited, moved, touched, impressed and delighted me.
They are listed in the order I heard them. The three with asterisks are my favourites, with the Ezra Collective album definitely taking first spot.
Imarhan – Aboogi
Black Country, New Road – Ants from up There
Kojey Radical – Reasons to Smile
Rosalia – Motomami
*Kate Tempest – The Line is a Curve
Wet Leg – Wet Leg
Florence + The Machine – Dance Fever
Porridge Radio – Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder to the Sky
Paulo Nutini – Last Night in the Bittersweet
*Gwenno – Tresor
Sam Fender – Seventeen Going Under
The Big Moon – Here is Everything
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Cool it Down
Dry Cleaning – Stumpwork
*Ezra Collective – Where I’m meant to be
If you ever get a chance to listen to any of them, I hope you enjoy.
