I never look back
over my shoulder
at what is lost
or is history.
I never look ahead
at what may
or may not
ever be.
I live
for the moment
with the beauty
that touches me.

And it’s funny that you posted this today because I just had a dream this morning, where I was being forced back into the past. And I was trying to leave the past right where it was and ignore the people who wouldn’t let me leave it behind. So of course your poem really spoke to me. I always love it when things like this happen. Just reinforces what I already know to be true.

Strange coincidences all around us. So many at times that they cease to be strange. Smiles.

Ahhh, Super post!! Love the idea of this, but is it really possible? Really? If we don’t learn and remember the lessons of the past won’t we make the same mistakes again? And if we don’t look to the future will we plan and have goals and be able to things done in a better way? What of Dreams? Dreams are of things not in the present aren’t they? LOL Just wondering, My Friend!

Smiles. Yes. But it is more about not regretting the past and not allowing it to dominate the present and the future. And I’m not sure we truly make mistakes. We make choices. We take paths. Hindsight might see them as mistakes, but a million unforeseen circumstances might have turned them into mistakes. And as for the future – there is a lovely line from an ancient Joni Mitchell song – ‘just when you think tht you’ve finally got it made, bad news comes knocking at your garden gate’. Life has far too many variables outside our control to do anything but do what we think is right, and hope. But today. Oh today. We should never compromise today. Smiles. I am glad you liked the post.
