Ten obituaries I would not be sorry to wake up to – a review

03 Oct

I posted this around a year ago. I thought I would update myself on whether death had done us a favour in the past twelve months. My recent comments are in red.

Sometimes I get angry and think the world would be a better place if shit didn’t always float to the top when it comes to those in high office. And I check the news every morning in hope that natural causes will have culled a few.

This list could be four times longer, but these are the first ten that came to mind.

In alphabetical order:

Isaias Afewerki – Eritrean leader and mass murderer with rivers of innocent blood on his hands. Yet no one does anything.
The bastard is still there

Bashar al-Assad – utter Syrian filth who. among many other things, uses chemical weapons on his own people. Will do anything to stay in power.
This bastard is still there too, and more deeply entrenched with the help of, in particular, Putin (see below)

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi – possibly (hopefully) already dead disgusting ISIS animal  who has twisted Islam into an excuse to commit atrocities in Arab countries and all over the world
Claims that he is dead sadly appear to be untrue.

Tony Blair – Ex UK Prime Minister – hypocrite, liar, and unpunished war criminal who was given a UN role as envoy to the Middle East (and secretly took money from Saudi Arabia while doing it) after killing thousands of Iraqi men, women and children and helping create even greater instability in the region.
The perma-tanned war criminal is still rolled out by the BBC and other news agencies to give his irrelevant views on politics and life in general. Why?

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan – nasty power crazed Turkish Dictator who has turned a fledgling secular democracy emerging from military control into a brutal dictatorship .
He now has even more control and has used it to stem any dissent through murder, torture, and incarceration. A throughly nasty piece of work.

Kim Jong-un – narcissistic, lying, celebrity leader of North Korea with no morality whatsoever and the emotional temperament of a 4-year-old. Widely ridiculed and yet feared by the rest of the world as one of the two most dangerous men on the planet.
Conducting a contrived charm offensive around the world but none of that changes the fact that his people are cruelly oppressed and impverished and he is dangerously paranoid. Trump (see below) loves him

Aung San Suu Kyi – hypocritical racist leader of Myanmar incorrectly awarded Nobel Peace Prize who is ethnically cleansing her country and denying it to the world.
And she still denies it, despite the murder, rape, persecution and displacement of hundreds of thousands of people.

Robert Mugabe – Zimbabwean murderer who has completely destroyed his country through corruption, brutality and fear. Why doesn’t he die?
The only good news on the list. Not dead (though surely it cannot be long before I can cheer) but at last removed from power. Though still living in luxury. It is the way of dictators.

Vladimir Putin – nasty, brutal, corrupt, ruthless, bloody-minded, cruel, evil, but cunning (certainly the most cunning and competent in this list) Russian tyrant and possibly the richest crook in the world
The clever criminal continues to exert his thoroughly corrupt iron grip on Russia while promoting bloodshed, violence, intolerance and oppression in various parts of the world.

Donald Trump –  narcissistic, lying, celebrity leader of USA with no morality whatsoever and the emotional temperament of a 4-year-old. Widely ridiculed and yet feared by the rest of the world as one of the two most dangerous men on the planet.
Has proved to be more racist, misogynist, childish, boorish, bigoted, hypocritical, lying, corrupt, intolerant, cruel, ill-informed, paranoid, plain nasty and unfit to be a leader of such a great country as the USA. A heart attack soon, surely.

This list will no doubt offend some people. People are so easily offended these days by almost anything. Personally I find the impact of extreme intolerance in the shape of war, greed, corruption, extreme religious views (of any faith), brutality, poverty, oppression, genocide, raw racism, etc to be real things worth getting offended by. I will review again this time next year when perhaps a cull will have taken place.

When Rohingyas raped and killed thousands of Burmese you were busy with romance and domination. When Kasmiri Pandits were thrown out of homes by aggressors who coccupied their land, u were busy dominating your partners. When Pakistan, created by hatred, living on hatred alone, kills Indians every day in terror attacks, you play romantic. Now you want all these dead. New dictators will come in their place, like jihadis who want to spread religion through the sword or devotees of inquisition who burn others at stake for their differences.
Let’s pray for the end of hatred, bigotism and proselytising, for Indian concept of ‘Vasudaiva Kutumbikam’ (World as one Family).

Ah, so it is my fault for being a writer and writing about other things. Smiles. love the concept of World as One Family! but do not ask me to pray for it. To whose god would I pray? It is in the hands of humanity not gods.

Thank you. Though it rather infers I am not good at anything else. Smiles. A writer must write what he feels, otherwise what would be the point of writing?

Agree completely! Wish that I knew more about Tony Blair’s misdeeds. We in the States still get very little “good” or truthful insight on UK or even Canadian politics, which is absolutely shameful. Trying to figure out which is worse: the Brexit mess or our orange-skinned dictator?

I fear they are equal disasters. Though your fool has the capacity for greater damage world wide. We Brits will just become a poorer, more narrow, divided country. Under Tory (broadly same as US Republican) control it has become a nastier, uncaring, broken place.

I try very hard not to dwell on the state of the world because it’s so disheartening. Every day I’m glad my dear dad (a WWll veteran and career Air Force) is no longer alive to see the mess we are in. I find it hard to believe people are capable of such hatred, vitriol, ignorance, and violence as they are in this supposedly civilized era. Seems there’s little hope for humanity or this planet. Just trying to enjoy the beauty of nature, music, art, and good healthy food. And the love of friends and family. I wish you the same.

Unfortunately as long as “free” people continue to elect oligarchs and wanna be oligarchs the sh*t will continue to float.

I for one love that you offer the world your poetry and prose as a healthy counter-point to your anger. You model being a multidimensional person for us. We are all multidimensional but society seems to like to put us in a single box. Time to put those boxes in the recycling bin.

Thank you. You are right. We are all more than we appear. And sometimes more than others want us to be. I am glad you enjoy.
